Hello everyone, my name is Gavin and I enjoy making models and reading. Here are my next top five books for aircraft modelers.
#1. The Aviation Factfile, Modern Military Aircraft
This book is a great one with a lot of different aircraft, each aircraft has at least one entry and 2 pages. Some aircraft have more entries for some of their variants such as the C-130 which has a couple of entries for its different variants. You can get the book brand new on amazon for $40, or used in good condition for about $7, through my affiliate link Here.
#2. Military Aircraft Visual Encyclopedia.
This book doesn’t have anything but side views of the aircraft, however there are multiple entries for many of the aircraft types with different paint schemes, variants, and theatre schemes. This book contains some of the same side views as those in the previous book, but this book has more side views spanning from world war 1 to modern aircraft. You can find it on amazon for about $25 used or $50 new, you can get it through my affiliate link Here.
#3. The United States Military Aviation Directory.
This book is a great resource for the modeler who is making a kit upon an aircraft or helicopter in the United States military. It has a description of each of the Service branch’s structure, base and units structure, and is followed by entries for each of the service’s aircraft and helicopters in service. You can get it on amazon for $36 new or about $10 used, through my affiliate link Here.
#4. The Worlds Great Attack Aircraft.
This book is about the attack aircraft of the world and is bombers and ground attack aircraft, it contains 20 different aircraft from around the world. Each aircraft has about 5 pages on each with current (current being the 80s-90s) unit tail markings and stations for them, as well as a two page fold-out for each one, and a load-out and comparison of similar aircraft at the end. You can get it on amazon for about $10 new or $8 used, through my affiliate link Here.
#5. The Worlds Great Interceptor Aircraft.
This is a companion to the previous book and is about interceptors (a fancy word for fighters), it also contains 20 aircraft from Great Britain to Sweden. Each aircraft has about 5 pages on each with current (current being the 80s-90s) unit tail markings and stations for them, as well as a two page fold-out for each one, and a load-out and comparison of similar aircraft at the end.
